The Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) was founded in 1994. Currently, has three schools – Design School, Management School and Technology School - with facilities on the Campus, located near the center of Barcelos (north of Portugal). It also has facilities in Braga and Guimarães (Caldas Taipas). IPCA has, at present, 15 Master Degrees (2nd cycle courses), 13 Bachelor Degrees (1st cycle courses) and 18 Technical Courses. In the area of research, IPCA has the following units: Centre for Research in Accounting and Taxation (CICF), Applied Legal Research Center (CIJA), Digital Games Research Centre (DIGARC) and Applied Management Research Unit (UNIAG). UNIAG is a collaboration of researchers from the four polytechnics in the North region that integrate APNOR (North Polytechnic Association).
